June 23, 2005 6:28 amThat’s right: our little, yellow, pellet-pounding, maze-meandering, ghostie-evading friend turns 25 this month. It’s the Number 1 arcade game of all time. You haven’t really played video games until you’ve spent a few hours mastering this one. I especially love the sounds.
According the this Washington Post article, the chomp chump was born in June 1980 in Japan, and then immigrated to the US. He and Ms. Pac-Man are still happily married.
Bonus factoid: did you know that the ghosties have names? Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde. I don’t know which is which.
