I’m on Vacation

I’m writing this post from Dandridge, Tennessee, where I am on vacation with the family. Dandridge is the 2nd oldest town in Tennessee and (somewhat) famous for being the birthplace of Davy Crocket. We’re having a great time here. You’ll be interested to know that I’ve played a good bit of golf, but not any soccer.

I’ve spent time this week thinking about how amazing it is that we get to take vacations at all. Think about this: our sin against the holy God means that we deserve hell. Instead, we get to go on vacation! It seems trite to say it like that, but I don’t mean it to be. I’m amazed at the grace we enjoy through vacation: the opportunities to rest, recreate, fellowship, and make memories.

I’ve also noticed that some parts of vacation are hard. I find it difficult to remain diligent in my devotions, and to posture myself to serve others. I’ll explain more in posts in the near future.
