One of the flavors I want our trip to have is humility. Really, this is THE flavor, because it is the basis for the other two flavors: serving and gratitude. There are two verses that come to mind for me on this topic, one that addresses how we view ourselves, one that addresses how we view others:
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. (Romans 12:3) Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. (Philippians 2:3-4)
Over the next few days, we’ll consider what this should look like while we are in Mexico.
