Hey, the Harvest Carnival rocked! All of you who served: GREAT JOB! Thanks for making it so much fun for the kids, and so warm and inviting for the adults.
Highlights for you?
Update: I’m told that we hosted something like 250 guests.

I always love the end, where we can let the kids have handfuls of candy instead of just one or two pieces! They always look so surprised!
Let’s see….highlights…
Seeing all the cute costumes was fun! I also really enjoyed serving as a nametag greeter, but that was really hard! I got some pretty hard-to-spell names (and promtly spelled them wrong).
i served at the photo booth and got to see a lot of cute costumes. i’m always amazed at people’s ingenuity. the best one was the kid “riding the dinasaur” it looked great!!!
oh, the coolest thing was seeing all the international students from mason there. i talked to two girls i recognized from english corner. it was wonderful to see them there!
Being a runner I got to see all the candy… And there was ALOT!
But my favorite part was at the end, the runners got to go around with bowls of candy and hand it out to the kids. Good times!
oompa loompas-hands down
why didn’t you dress up, Steve?
Runner! Yeah we basically controlled the flow of candy, and in return got some whenever. >)
It was fun handing it to kids and throwing them at people.(no kids. Just people I knew wouldn’t be offended) >)
But yeah, it was reallly cool to see all the kids having a great time.
Being humbled by having to do the Oompa-Loompa dance twice (thanks to Anna B. and Johnny U.). Well, maybe it was kind of fun…
I also liked playing the oompa-loompa song on my dad’s phone while going up and down the stairs (the only place you could actually hear it playing). People were looking around, trying to figure out where the music came from, and my brothers and sister hid from me when I headed toward the stairs.
I got to serve with my sister. This was especially neat, since it is her first time serving. The kids were so cute in their costumes.
The whole night was a blast!
Steve was dressed up! He went as the Mac guy in the commercials, and Mr Gallo was the PC guy.
It was rather funny, because Mark came around and told me to start loading up the kids with tuns of candy, and so after a while i was giving them an entire handful of candy if they lost!!! About two minutes later Mark ran over and told me they were starting to run out. . . . . . What a joke!!!! I feel rather good that i made a bunch of kids happy for a couple of minutes!!!
Highlights:
1. Working the photo-booth and getting to see all the little kids dressed up.
2. Wearing an event staff shirt.
3. Getting the Helmses to do the Oompa Loompa Dance…
4. Seeing a new generation of teens serving was also pretty cool.
