In one of the messages at Rocket, I asked everyone to think about this scenario:
Your house is on fire. You know that your family and pets are safe. What do you grab as you run for the door?
I was impressed with how honest people were: they admitted that they would grab the Wii or the X-Box, the camera or maybe the computer. A few would grab a Bible or some treasured possession.
What would you take and why?

I know that almost everything I have, including my Bible, is replaceable so I think I would grab our laptop since that’s got all my school work and the book I’ve been writing for three years on it. It would be sad to loose all that work since I’m so close to finishing it and I want to get it published when I’m done.
It would be hard to choose between that though and some other special things, like photos and a doll that’s as old as I am and I’ve had since I was a baby. (It’s looking pretty dead now, compared to when I first got it, but it’s still special)
heleena said almost exactly what i was thinking. my first impulse would be to grab the lappy. it has years of irreplaceable work on it.
I would probably grab my stuffed animal…haha. I can’t sleep without “quacky.”

it’s a wonder some people think I’m mature…
Since most things can be replaced, I would grab my music bag. It contains my flute, my piccolo (which was originally my great aunt’s), and most of my music. I would say the lappy, but it isn’t mine. The only thing I would really want on their is my novel, and most of it I e-mailed to myself anyway.
Probably my wallet… It has everything that I need. I can replace everything that I owned, with that one thing.
What about you Steve?
Scratch that last one. I’d take my Moleskines/notebooks. It’s impossible to replace all the stuff in those. That’s where I write down all the things that I read, hear, see, and think. Definitely need the Moleskines/notebooks.
Thanks for asking Jonny. I had a hard time with that question since nearly everything I have is easily replaceable. I’m not a sentimental guy, and I love throwing stuff away, so I don’t have that much stuff.
I’d either take my computer because of all I have on it or my journals, because of what they represent. But wallet is a really good idea.
I would definately have to take my Moleskine journals and sketchbook as well as all my paintings/drawings/other artwork. Which would be really difficult considering some are really big. I would probably die trying but oh well…
I would say my laptop, but it’s not an Apple.
I would say my iPod, but it would be nice to get a new one.
I would say my stuffed animal, but my wife made me throw that away years ago.
Maybe I should just keep running, but I think I would grab pictures. Those are irreplaceable.
I would say my purse, but only because it contains my Bible. Even though my Bible doesn’t contain notes and it is replacable, I would want to have it there with me during a trial like that so I could read God’s Word and be comforted.
