I thought it was great! I mean, there were a few things that I didn’t remember from the book, but other than that, I definitely loved it! As for which movie was better, I think it’s kind of hard to compare it to the first one, because they’re both so different…I mean, in a way, it’s almost like comparing The Two Towers to Fellowship Of The Ring; TTT was really amazing, just like the first one, and yet it was more of a bridge to what was going to happen next.

The theme they were setting up (but unfortunately didn’t totally finish) was pretty powerful, I think. Overall, definately a good movie; not perfect, but really pretty good. Most other open-minded viewers seemed to enjoy it, too.

I liked it! but I thought the first one was better, and I missed seeing it with all of you. I wonder what the third one will be like, I ended up seeing it open night after crossroads. Anyway glad you guys had fun? How was the evangelism thing? Did everything go good?

i thought it was pretty good. i saw it twice, opening night, and with the youth group. the first time i saw it, i couldn’t separate it from the book in my mind and thus found the larger discrepancies between the two disturbing. however, the second time i was able to look at the movie as a separate entity from the book and enjoyed it thoroughly. the susan/caspian thing was … eh … but edmund was cool. very cool. they did a good job with reepicheep and trumpkin, i thought, and overall, i liked it.
as far as comparison to the first movie, i liked this one better largely because it was so different from the book. with the first movie it follows the book so closely there is never a moment when i wondered what would happen, never a surprise. in caspian they changed the storyline enough that i was surprised by things, which was a lovely change. also, edmund has always been my favorite character, and pc, naturally, casts him in a far better light than lww does.

To clarify my earlier post, I’m not saying if you didn’t like it your not open minded, nor if you did like it, you necessarily are open minded. If just seemed like people who didn’t like it just tend to be overly harsh critics.

I really liked the movie. Three of my favorite characters were Reepicheep, Trumpkin and Lucy. Reepicheep had some pretty funny lines. I can’t wait to see it again on $2 Tuesday!

How did meeting early to evangelize go?
I wish I could have been there! I would have enjoyed the chance to evangelize with other people as well as see the movie, which I’ve been waiting to see… since the last one came out! I can’t wait to see it and see what they do with my favorite characters in the whole series: Reepicheep, Caspian, and Edmund. (favorites besides Alsan of course - he’s great)
Also, how would you rate the movie 1 (worst) - 10 (best)? How would you rate it in comparison to the first one?

I loved all the symbolism in the movie. The importance of running after Aslan/Christ was a powerful picture to me throughout the movie.

Overall, i enjoyed the movie. It was an exciting adventure in an exotic land, with (mostly) like-able characters.
BE WARNED, this is not the Narnia you have read about. If you go to watch it expecting the book you will be sorely dissapointed.
The movie surpasses the book in plot and action/suspense. The pace of the movie was good, and the action sequences were gripping (though the whole ramp-thing in the final battle was REALLY cheesy and anti-climactic.) If you like lots of sword fighting, archery, horse chases, and surprise attacks, you’ll this movie.
Though it was a fun ride, I was dissapointed with some of the characters (especially the “romance” thing.) More importantly, i felt that the characters never really repented or resolved any of their issues. Prince Caspian is a fun movie, but it doesn’t go deep enough.
It’s funny that this movie came out right before graduation, because it left me the same feeling i get saying “good-bye” to the seniors… I’m more affected movies than most, but it left me with a sad “i-wish-i-could-go-back-to-the-real-Narnia” feeling for the next few days. (i still have the switchfoot song running through my head)
I’d give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. Not as good as the first because of the characters and lack of depth. Better than the first in the action/suspense. Parting advice, treat Prince Caspian as if you’d never heard of it before. Don’t compare it to the book or the Narnia in your head cause you’ll be dissapointed.

personaly i didn’t really like it… i thougt it was better as a movie than the 1st one. one thing i liked was how they did edmund, but i didn’t like the actor that played prince caspian or how they changed some things that i thought were really important to the story. i guess i just like the book alot. as a movie it was ok for me.

Don’t compare it with the book. That is a must. Tyler thought the movie was awesome; I thought it was only okay. I’m the kind of person that likes movies to stick as close to the book as possible (word-for-word is fine with me). Susan the Superhero was a great disappointment to me. Who can swordfight with arrows that never run low? I did like the humor in the movie.

I loved it lots, and I wasn’t dissapointed because I lost my copy. :O I liked the music a lot too, and it was fun sitting with the rest of 5:15.
The Susan /Caspian thing was…. erm…. but Georgie Henley is still so cute though! (But she’s my age! Wierd….) Reeepicheep was very funny and I think one of the biggest laughs in the film was when they tied up the cat! (Heehee!) See you at the cook-out!

I’m going to be really blunt in this review, because ultimately I really disliked the movie.
And I’m surprised that very few agree with that statement. So here we go:
The raiding of the castle was utterly unnecessary, and they cut out virtually all of the character development. I couldn’t believe the Susan-Caspian thing, or the heat between Caspian and Peter. The movie screamed “Hi we want to be the next Lord of the Rings,” in many different ways, since when did Susan believe Aslan actually was there when they were crossing the gorge, since when did Caspian want to call on the White Witch, since when was he 27, and since when were all the characters annoying except Edmund? (and even his awesomeness they dumbed down in the movie) So, the castle raiding was not needed, plus it gave them another excuse for Peter to yell at Caspian.
Well, I could expand upon the few of these because I feel like it. The battle scene: In order to add that completely pointless scene that got them no where, they had to cut out several better parts. Like if the battle scene was gone (they also could’ve trimmed a lot of dumb stuff from the ending battle as well) they would’ve been able to really emphasize the part about Edmund supporting Lucy, but Peter, and even more passionately, Susan and Trumpkin demanding they go the other route. They could’ve made the waking of the trees a really impressive…majestic maybe? scene. They also cut out the whole bit with Caspian and his nurse. Though this isn’t extremely important, it’s one of my favorite parts of the book and I was so saddened after the movie when I realized they had cut it out.
I also want to say that the movie wanted to be Lord of the Rings. I mean, honestly, who wouldn’t want to be? It’s only made billions and zillions of dollars and known by everyone in the world. But seriously, the extra battle added only made it have more of a ‘middle earth/ork/Rohan’ kind of feel. Someone mentioned when Edmund falls off the little tower/castle thing onto the bird creature, so Gandalf falling off the tower onto the eagle. And did anyone catch the scene in the beginning when those seven (or nine?) Miraz guys are chasing Caspian? Caspian runs through the river on his horse, then the Miraz guys are hesitant to do so. One or two of them actually fall off their horses into the water. “Hello, yes, we’re trying to do a Narnia version of the Nazgul chasing Arwen in the FOTR.”
Oh, yeah and did anyone catch the Susan-is-a-ninja-mutant-turtle-warrior-martial-arts-face? That wasn’t really a big deal but it was kind of lame. (totally agree Hannah)
The was a breeding ground for cheesey lines, and not many of the actors stuck out as excellent. Trumpkin bothered me in particular.
Also, I felt they cut out Aslan, pretty much all of the movie. And he’s kind of important. He’s supposed to be God. I fell they really skimmed over him, and emphasized lotsa battle battle battle that really meant nothing. Isn’t Aslan/God supposed to be the center? I understand the point is like ‘where is God?’ but the movie portrayed him as a minor character, and exalted Peter and Caspian as the ‘heroes’ of the day.
All in all, I wish it had stuck closer to the book. It was about as shallow as a dinner plate, and from a Christian stance, I think they acted like God was only a minor character in it all.
So yah I was kind of bugged. Maybe I was harsh, don’t know, if so you can delete this, but just want to get a few other people thinking about this movie.
