Do Hard Things Book Club Starts Sunday!

May 29, 2008 9:27 am

do-hard-things.jpgAs I recently announced, I am starting a Do Hard Things book club this summer. It begins on Sunday morning. Of course this is totally optional, but I am using this to replace the usual Summer Reading Challenge. So if you want a challenge, get yourself out of bed and get over here on Sunday.

Here are the details:

  • Starts at 8:30am. (Yes, that is early! Do Hard Things!)
  • I’m not providing breakfast. (Make your own at home! Do Hard Things!)
  • Bring your Bible, Do Hard Things Book, pen and paper.
  • All rising 7th - 12th graders and their parents are invited.
  • It’s ok if you’re going to miss a couple for vacation (I am, too!).

Here is the schedule with the reading assignments if you need it:

Finally, please come prepared to discuss the following questions:

  • What are the easy things in your life that you like to do most?
  • What are the hard things in your life that you like to do least?

I can’t wait!!

I’ve only just started the book and I’m already starting to think “do had things” when I don’t want to do something I know I should.

I can’t wait to read the whole book and go to the discussion.

I’ve been reading it. It’s a shame that we can’t make it to the discussion. Would you be posting what you discuss here?

Anyways, I like it so far. It’s not as hard of a read as I thought it would be. 8D

Daniel,
I’ll at least be posting the discussion questions that we talk about here on the blog. Think of it as the play-at-home version.

Wow! What a great book and hard one to put down. I have just read the first two chapters and are amazed and encouraged by how God worked through Alex and Brett, many other teens and how the twins’ website grew. The first page of the forward states that “we live in a culture that promotes comfort, not challenges.” I realize how I have been affected by that. I have only experienced God’s grace and blessing as well as how real he is as I’ve been led to do some hard things in my life this year.

Steve thanks for leading us in Doing Hard Things. Youth, the message of this book is a truth that God will be glorified in as you do hard things for him by his grace. And parents, be encouraged that God has great things for you to do as well. :-)
