Please Pray For The Retreat

June 26, 2007 8:00 am

As best I can tell, the five15 Retreat is 57 days away. As the days crawl by, one way you can prepare is to pray. I want us to pray for revival. I was inspired by reading these words from D. A. Carson:

But if the Lord visited his people with revival, it was immediately evident in an extraordinary sense of the presence of God, in deep-seated repentance and a renewed passion for holiness, and ultimately in the sound and indisputable conversion of many people. Carson, For The Love Of God, Vol 1, 6/15.

I want more of that. I think we’ve been blessed with incredibly blessed by the presence and power of the Spirit at previous retreats and meetings, but we need to be filled again with the Holy Spirit. Let’s use the ideas above and the words of Ephesians 5:18-21 to guide our prayers:

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Retreat Sidebar.pngJust a reminder that the last chance to register for the five15 Retreat is THIS SUNDAY MORNING!

If you’re planning to come, please get right on it. We’re planning all kinds of great stuff, and I don’t want you to miss it.

I also want to say: if finances is the only thing keeping you from going, please see me right away.

See you on Sunday!

Retreat Countdown: 115 Days

The most important moment of the five15 year is 115 days away: our annual five15 Retreat. 115 days from today, we will all load up our cars, hit the road and arrive at a retreat center to devote the next 65 hours or so to seeing what we can see. In God’s Word, about God himself, his Son Jesus Christ, and what Jesus did for us when He died on the Cross.

What is a retreat? It sounds like you’re running away.
Sort of, yes! When high school students and their parents take time—unhurried time in a different environment—to encounter God, good things happen. This retreat will be about what it means to live for Jesus. Understanding the gospel. Applying it to our lives. We’ll also be kicking off another year of five15. The fun begins Wednesday afternoon, August 22, and we’ll finish Saturday, August 25.

Who should come?
This retreat is for rising 9th-12th graders and their parents. We hope to have 100% of the eligible teens and parents there.

Where will it be?
We’re abandoning suburban hype for the heart of Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley. We have outgrown the Concrord Retreat Center, so this year we are moving to Massanetta Springs in Harrisonburg, VA.

What will we do?
On our retreat we will worship God by singing together, hearing God’s word preached and experiencing fellowship. We are also looking forward to a worship & ministry night, family time, volleyball, and much more! You won’t want to miss out!

Stay tuned for details. Remember: registration starts TONIGHT!
